Criteria to Submit an Application to the
FIRST FAMILIES OF NSDAC


Any NSDAC Member may submit an application to the FIRST FAMILIES OF NSDAC for one of her approved NSDAC ancestors for her ancestor to be eligible, honored, and recognized as an ancestor in the new United States 250th Anniversary member consortium to be known as the FIRST FAMILIES OF NSDAC.

 

An NSDAC ancestor submitted for FIRST FAMILIES OF NSDAC recognition must:
 

  • Be a previously approved NSDAC ancestor, either the ancestor used on a member’s initial membership application or a proven supplemental ancestor.

  • Appear in historical records to be documented to be the FIRST Colonist of one specific family surname to have arrived and settled in one of the original thirteen (13) colonies that ultimately became the United States of America.
     

Directions to complete the FFNSDAC application:
 

  • An applicant must prove her ancestor’s exact or approximate arrival date in one of the original 13 colonies using a copy or copies of actual historical documents. Acceptable historical documents may be, but are not limited to, ships’ passenger lists, land records, court records, tax lists, and headright records. Approval of submitted documentation will be at the review and discretion of the FFNSDAC Committee’s Registrar.
     

  • In addition to completing and submitting the FFNSDAC application, an applicant must also submit a copy of her approved NSDAC application or supplemental for the specific ancestor being used for the FIRST FAMILIES OF NSDAC. All pertinent data in the provided proof is to be underlined in red ink.
     

  • Photocopies from a publication must include publication name, date and sources and are usually found on a book title page or a newspaper headline.
     

  • If a document is difficult to read, it is to be transcribed. Send a copy of the original document attached to the transcription.
     

  • Dates entered on the application should be in day, month, year order; however, if the proof document states a Quaker formatted dated, record the date exactly as in the proof.
     

  • Do not send original documents; all applications and proof documentation sent become the property of NSDAC and will NOT be returned.
     

  • base along with the number of the ancestor’s proven service category number used on the official NSDAC application.An approved ancestor will be recorded in FFNSDAC official log (database) by the FFNSDAC Committee with the currently assigned ancestor’s ID number from the NSDAC ancestor data

  • A member who submits an application that is approved will also receive a FFNSDAC Member Number. The first 50 members of the FFNSDAC will be recognized as “Charter Members.”

  • If a FFNSDAC application can’t be verified, the application paper, the application fee, and the proofs will NOT be returned to the member.
​
  • The fee to submit a FIRST FAMILIES OF NSDAC application will be $25 for each FFNSDAC application submitted. Checks should be written payable to NSDAC. If an approved member wishes to purchase the FFNSDAC insignia pin to be worn on the official ribbon, they may do so once it becomes available.

  • Mail the completed application to the FIRST FAMILIES of NSDAC Chairman.
